Today we spotlight senior Brylee Hempey! She has been an active four-year student council representative!

*Next year, Brylee plans to attend the university of South Dakota to play softball and major in nursing to one day become a nurse practitioner.
*Her best memory of StuCo was attending the freshman mixer her freshman year and getting welcomed by all the upperclassmen.
*Being involved in Student Council impacted her because it “made me happy to be apart of East high and made me less nervous to be around older kids.”
*If she had a re-do of her high school years, she said: “I would get involved in more activities when I was younger or taking more college classes sooner so I didn’t have to cram them in my junior and senior year.”
*Here’s Brylee’s advice for underclassmen: “get involved and have no regrets. Volunteer at pep rallies, don’t be afraid to cheer loud and be crazy at sporting events, don’t think you shouldn’t dress up on theme days because you will realize it is so much more fun to participate!”

Here are some parting words for and about Brylee from the other student council members:
“Brylee is such an amazing person, inside and outside of school. She’s always participated in most stuco activities even though she might be busy outside of school.” “she is a super kind and genuine person. She is always some you can talk to and will help you however she can.” “A good memory I had with Brylee is during volleyball season! Brylee is involved in so many things. Brylee is respectful to everyone.” Brylee is such a talented, kind-hearted, and ambitious leader. Despite being constantly involved in a variety of sports and activities, Brylee has never let her busy schedule get in the way of being an active participant of this council.” “Brylee has been dedicated to this council for four years, while juggling a multitude of other activities that she also excels in.” “I appreciate that Brylee is always positive. It doesn’t matter if she is having a good or bad day, she will still be kind to others.”

Well those words sure summed up Brylee! A renaissance woman indeed! We will miss you! Thank you for being such an awesome role model and showing people it really is possible to do it all! ❤️ 🤍 🖤

The Senior Spotlight of the day goes to Sydney Helt, our ‘21-22 President! She has been a StuCo rep all four years of high school and an elected executive officer both junior and senior year!

•Next year, Sydney plans to study Biochemistry at Iowa State University, then eventually go to Univeristy of Iowa on her path to becoming an Emergency Medicine Physician.
•Her best StuCo memory would be the Exec trip to Kansas City last summer where she got to learn more about the councils in neighboring states and got to know her fellow officers better and have some fun times together!
•If she could redo something, it would be to go back and savor everything. She says: “They will tell you it flies by, but you don’t understand that until you are two weeks away from graduating.”
•Sydney’s advice to underclassmen is to “Do anything and everything. You will find something that will fit your niche and will help you grow as an individual.”
•Sydney adds: “Student Council taught me what it means to be a leader. Without student council, I would not be the person I am today. It offers guidance to the list and taught me to I be kind to others and myself.”
•’21-22 council members have these parting words for Sydney: “She is always thinking of good ideas!” “I especially remember what an amazing Vice President she was last year!” “You were nice those couple of times I needed a ride.” “Sydney is awesome and she is always willing to help!” “I really appreciate how she has led our council this year! Her experience and guidance was constantly reassuring and helpful!” “She is passionate and smart!” “ I remember buying stuff for Sydney as she was my secret Santa, and I remembered that I had no idea what to give her at all. I was lost. But she still appreciated the piece of dynamite I gave her.” “ Sydney has shown me that leaders really can do it all. She is involved in multiple activities, but she still gives 100% to StuCo, being an incredible leader and president.”

Thank you, Sydney, for your hard work and strong leadership over the past four years, especially the last two as an officer. It was a lot of work but you took it on and we are so glad to see you get as much from it as we got from you!
Keep on working hard and all your dreams will come true! ❤️ 💛
